S&W Pistol Sights

Does anyone have experience using a 'white outline' V rear sight and a bright green plastic front sight on a center fire S&W pistol. I had a these sights on a Ruger MK II or III. I could see them much better than the square 'white outline' and black or painted front sight. Old eyes (83) and color blind demands help. I'm not ready for a shot gun or "just spray the area". Brownell's have the sites I'm thinking about.

Howdy !

While I have not used a white outline “ V” rear sight, I have used and liked very much
Austin Behlert’s white outline square notch rear sight. I used it on .357 Mag 5” and 6”
“ N “ frames. The Behlert is fairly sizeable for use on a carry gun, but it did work for me.

I had a gunsmith that would outfit the front sight w/ any colour insert I chose. He cut the inserts from transparent toothbrush handles, so many color choices abounded. I think some squirt guns would make great candidates for insert materiel.

For me, the two sights worked well. Maybe green works better for you, than red ?

With regards,

I've been using, a White Outline Rear, w/ a Hot Pink, ( Plexi-glass ) front Insert that, I filed / formed, in Front S & W Site of my model 14, .38 spl.,...
It works,.. Okay !
BUT my, 507 Holosun, Green, "Chevron" rear Sight, works BEST, on my Model 34, 5" Glock !
My old Eyes can really,.. SEE,.. It ! ( Bright Green, shows Up,.. Well ! )

The front site on the Ruger Mk II or III was the very bright green like a tube. So I had the white outlined 'V' rear site and the bright circular dot. It was very quick to get focused and the dot easily 'centered'. Brownell's has the sites to fit my 3" Model 60, but, I will need something newer than my Model 27, 357 M. It is an older one with out the transfer bar. The different colors inserted in the front site just doesn't work for me. I shot a couple of gophers at 50 yd. with that Ruger. I could see the sites, but I did change to a red dot. Something new to play with!!
