People interested in buying this will want to see pictures of the bolt face and barrel face. That's what tells how much it has been used. I hope this information helps with your sale.FS: A real clean S & W 41 target 22 cal with 51/2 barrel. The box that comes with it is a little tattered. I need $1150 plus shipping. Thanks for looking.

Does it have the cocking indicator in the rear of the frame??TTT more pics to come
Yes, it has a cocking indicator on the back. As to when it was made, I can’t be sure but I believe it was in the 70’s. The serial no. is A138158. Maybe somebody in the know can find out for sure.
Thanks Jerry for the great input. RussThe A Series started at A115,000, in 1968. Without a factory letter, it is difficult to date a S&W pistol because all the "Automatic" pistol models were in the same serial number series. There was no series just for specific models, like the Model 41.
My research ( notes to self, asking people when they bought their Model 41, lots of gun shows, and owning a few myself, S&W books) says that A170,000 was in 1971. So I would guesstimate a date for your A138158 as 1969.
The Model 41's before the A series all had a cocking indicator.
You have a very nice example of the 5 1/2 Heavy barrel model.
SPFI'll take it.
