I grew up on Arizona, and after graduating high school I received an invitation from the USMC to experience MCRD San Diego. After 8+ years of R&R with the Marine Corps, I got out and continued to reside California. I have been here since in 1977, and I have watched this state degrade in so many ways. I don't want to restate what others have stated, but this is what I have observed.
The state is controlled by large concentrations of liberal fascists. If they do not like your activity, they ban, tax or highly regulate your property, and they make your activity illegal or regulate it to the point it is impossible to participate. They are clearly infringing upon the Second Amendment.
The California statutes and regulations pertaining to AR type rifles is impossible to understand, and I have been an attorney for the last 20 years. Thanks to the inventive people on calguns.net, they created a flow chart to determine how to comply with the law.
In combination with federal and state law, it is illegal for a California resident to purchase a firearm outside the State of California. Any firearm we desire, we have to have it shipped to an FFL in California for the purchase. Also, California now requires handgun manufacturers to regularly submit a handgun for safety testing to our state DOJ. It is my understanding that each variation of each handgun must be submitted for testing to be approved. If an manufacturer offers rubber and wood grips, it must submit a handgun with each grip for approval.
I used to spend time on the weekends visiting various gun stores. Now there are only a handful of gun stores in San Diego County. Most public lands have been closed to shooting. I continuously read about shooters being harassed by law enforcement officers, and being arrested for violations that are subsequently deemed to not be violations. If I want to go shooting, I have to drive about 90 minutes. If I am smart, I will drive an extra 90 minutes and shoot in Arizona, where I can avoid California law enforcement.
After I first got out of the Marine Corps, I worked as a law enforcement officer while finishing college and then law school. I have watched California law enforcement, slowly adopt the anti-gun attitude of the liberals in charge. There is a strong us verses them attitude with law enforcement. I attribute this to a simple example. A dog will serve whoever feeds it. Law enforcement is paid by the liberal democrats.
If a citizen uses a firearm to protect himself, he can count on undergoing harsh scrutiny by law enforcement and the District Attorney and should anticipate being prosecuted. It appears that protecting yourself, is an act of self government and self reliance which are not to be tolerated by the liberal fascists.
I applaud the gun manufacturers and the individual firearm sellers who are refusing to sell firearms to California. Unfortunately, we need to create a crisis to get attention on this problem, and a national boycott is a step to getting this problem on the docket of the United States Supreme Court.
