S&W 49 Bodyguard in 38spl.

What do you guys think . It's not the prettiest looking but it's a S&W . A friend of mine is going to unload his guns , it was carried but hardly ever shot . Looks pretty rough in spots , cylinder and guard the bluing is worn off for lack of care aand staying in the same position in the holster IWB. My get time for a project and give it some TLC.

Its a real good revolver but heavy compared to the airweights. I love the shrouded hammer over any other carry gun design. Desantis makes a nice carry holster for itimage.jpg

Greetings,
The model 49 is the best steel J frame .38 there is. I'm partial to my model 42 centennial though. Buy it!

To me, the perfect carry gun is a bit of a beater that's dead-nuts reliable. ;) Sounds like that one fits the bill.

My day gun is this S&W Model 60 Chiefs Special.

I had an Airweight model 638. I liked the fact the hammer is shielded by the slab sides, but you can still shoot single action. Very cool feature.

Model 638 Video (by third party):

Even with the short barrel, my model 638 was very accurate. I even won a local IDPA match once shooting the thing when I forgot the ammo for my Glock 34. There were a couple of tactical "bad-@ss" wannabees who were very upset that they got beat by an old dude with a 5-shot .38 SPL wheelgun.

Thank guys , I'll give him a call tomorrow. I favor S&W's in revolvers , my Chief 36 38spl. is in excellent condition . The bodyguard will be my practice piece , I will load up some light loads , I baby my guns most of the timewith light loads , after sending a mod 29 back to Smith for end shake , started using 44 spl. instead of mags , got to be a rabbit I guess , all my revolvers have tight lock ups.

Go for it, carry guns that get carried daily and practiced with on a regular basis will accumulate a few battle scars.

Govt buyback for illegal guns off the street is good . Not for legal owners , we're always looking for deals.

Some battle scars are normal , this was neglected visually it looks rough but was shot very little , more like five cylinders , lived in the holster for many years without moving.
