S.E.A (Shadetree) Coaxial Rest & Caldwell -The Rock BR 1000

Many months ago I purchased in Australia an SEA Front Coaxial Rest to mount on my Caldwell Rock BR 1000 and to my disappointment it did not fit. I was asked if it had the square thread post and all looked fine until I tried to fit it all together. Since the SEA came in parts it was no easy task only to discover that the so called "square thread" on the SEA was by no means the same size.

The supplied post I believe is 7/8" 1:6 pitch Acme which is incorrect.

I was told by the dealer that SEA have never heard of a Caldwell Rest having a 1" centre post which is rubbish.... I have it here sitting on the floor and the Bill Of Materials that lists the "#6 Elevation Ram" as 1:5 pitch 1" Diameter.... so, is a Caldwell - The Rock BR 1000 something that I invented or has anyone actually seen one.

To be able to use the SEA Coaxial Front Rest I had to go and purchase a completely new Caldwell Rock BR which by the way is a junior in comparison. From memory like 10lbs lighter and way smaller footprint.

I tried to obtain some 1" 1:5 pitch Acme thread rod in Australia but not available unless I have it especially manufactured. I see it listed in numerous places in the USA but I have to buy like a 5-6' length which will cost a fortune in freight.....

Am i going nuts, I don't see the Rock BR 1000 listed on the Caldwell Site but I have one here in front of me plus the Instructions & Parts List.....

Anyone know where I can get posted to Australia a 6-8" length of 1" 1:5 Pitch Acme Threaded Rod for a reasonable price... ????

I would contach Butch Lambert directly at http://shadetreeea.com/Default.htm. He is very supportive of his products and could give you good advice on how to modify your setup to work for you.

Been there, done that....!!!! >:( Through the Aussie Dealer.

The answer from Butch was "Never heard of a 1" Acme Threaded post on a Caldwell, yet alone anything else" end of support story..... >:(

Sorry, but that's the Baby Caldwell Rock, 15 lb & 15" Footprint....Part Number 440907.

From memory the Rock BR 1000 is about 25lb and a lot bigger footprint. So it seems what I have is not that common.....

I'm not going out to the shed in the sleet at present to take measurements....

The Rock BR 1000 Part Number 171209.

Maybe I should send Caldwell an email and ask if I have some alien model..... :D :D

Thanks for the comments, at least I know I'm not totally up-side-down here in Oz and imagine what I own.....

Still that is not my problem, it's getting the 1" Acme Threaded Rod to adapt the SEA Rest....

Sorry, maybe I'm just a bit down as the way it's turned out and the extra expence of buying yet another Caldwell I would have been far better off buying a Farley complete front rest and base in one.... might be the best way to go and just put it down to a bad mistake.

how much 1 inch acme rod ya need?? I use it on my rests and have adapted many Cadwell rests to accept my tops...
