rws r50 available

Most of them won’t do that, or come close. My SR200 would come close.
Like it or not, they are being out shown by PCP guns.
Watch the video interview with Alan Zasadny, still the custom field target guru. Guy wont even touch a springer these days.
Several of us have been shooting the new FX DRS tactical 22’s, going to run an air BR league this spring.
That said, even with a slight breeze, these things go off the rails pretty quick especially @ 50 yds.
Your correct but wrong. Yes pcps are great but just another version of a rim fire. No, pcps do not have the ammo problem but you need a compressor, sirtankd, fill probes.....with a Springer you need pellets and skill period.Good conditions at 50 if a good Springer and shoot does .5. Require more skill, just as much fun and to 40.00 a box ammo, no tanks, hoses, compressors etc.

I'm ignorant to Springers completely. How much does a so-so quality Springer cost to a middle of the road to the upper tier? I may have to purchase one. Sounds like fun.

There are cheap springers and in my experience they aren’t worth any of your time. These days if a springer is not actually built in England or Germany it’s not going to be consistent. We are talking $500-1000 for a new unit. Tunes are $200-400 depending on the intricacy.

That said some come from the factory not performing to potential - I have a TX200 and it was barely dime groups at 20y until it was professionally tuned and then it went to one ragged hole at 20y.

Ammo is an issue because you do need to find the ammo it shoots best and then not all tins perform the same. But most shooters do well once they find a favorite pellet and stay with it.

Another version of a RF.....ah, no.
Compressor....no. Most of us run an SCBA bottle........many fills.
Utah Air, I believe , largest dealer in US, you're hard pressed to even find a springer.
Jeff.....FX..... they even tune guns for pellets.....has a power wheel for about a 250 fps variance.Guys hunting with them out past 100 yds.Pull cocking lever......many shots without disturbing gun, can even swap barrels if you want to shoot slugs, come out of the darkness, into the light, you'll never look back.
But, hey, this is US.....run what you brung

Scuba bottle, find a place to fill it......all part of why I enjoy springers. Shooting at 25 yards is just like a ppc at 100. But no reloading, no cleaning, no compressor, no hoses, no chasing ammo lots. Me , my rifle, a tin of pellets, all I need. I know pcps shoot great but they are just another version of the rim fire game. Oh, I never run out of air.

How about that RWS R50 then? Yes, thinly veiled attempt to get the discussion back on track.

Anyway, anybody buy some and chrono it. What kind of ES and SD are you seeing? At 34 bucks a box it had better be 2-3 SD and less than 10 ES.

Not critical metrics nor directly related to performance.
You shoot a target, it’s good or it isn’t….score tells all. There’s a reason you’ll virtually never see it at a big match.
You’re dreaming if you think much RF match ammo has less than 10 ES.

This is true. However a high es and sd is, in my experience, an assurance of a low score. Large fluctuations in velocity never results in one hole groups.

Used Beeman or HW or Weirauch, Beeman imported good stuff back in the day. FWB also. pre owned can be very good option. I would not buy a new springer.

Apparently it’s selling… I sent an email yesterday trying to order a rifle for a customer. Had no reply as of this afternoon which is unusual so followed up with a call. They said they’ve been running ragged packaging and shipping ammo since the containers were unloaded…

I have a BSA .22 break-barrel springer I acquired to satisfy a wager over 50 years ago. Plenty accurate enough for head shots on squirrels and rabbits. It's not a target rifle but it is rather fun to shoot. Iron sights btw. It eats scopes. lower quality ones anyway....
