Ruger Rotary Mag Cleaning / Assembly

I have a ruger rotary mag that is causing failure to feed.

I checked the internet and found plenty of vids on how to take apart and clean. Seems simple enough.

I also found a tool that help with reassembly. http://www.borelsports.com/shop/ruger-10-22-magazine-assembly-tool/

Has anyone used one of these? I guess for $14 I can be the guinea pig.

How old is the magazine? I have a few ancient ones that the springs are worn out & they don't feed the last few rounds. They're cheap enough so I just bought new ones. For cleaning, I just flush them out with some carbon remover and then hit them with compressed air.

You do not need a tool, just a hex wrench and a box wrench. After you take the mag apart and clean all the parts, use 1 1/2 turns to tension the spring.

Yep, simple enough to just take apart scrub and assemble with pretension. Sometimes all you need to do is add a 1/2 turn more pretension to the spring to feed the last round more positively.
