Ruger rebarrel question.

Silly/stupid question.
I have a Ruger M77 with a tang safety. Several years ago I had a smith re-barrel it to 22-250 AI. I am wanting to put another barrel on it again and am wondering if you can convert the Ruger action to accept barrels with a nut like the savages do? Is it possible? I would like to be able to do my own barrel swaps on it.
By any chance does the Ruger have the same TPI as the savages?
Thanks for helping an obvious rookie.

Diff thread.
It's not the receiver that needs to be changed , modified, it's all on the barrel .

Savage , rem 783,Marlin xs7., xl7,new winchester .are factory barrel nutted .out of those
Out of those factory guns only savage so far has barrels available. With the new fee ,I do not see many others jumping on .

Exactly! I have both Ruger M77's (one with a tang safety) and I also have Savages. The two are NOT interchangeable as I've had barrels replaced on each of them and the barrel nut thing won't work on the Rugers. Not being a Gunsmith, I almost hate to say "you can't" when someone cleaver individual will come along and SOMEHOW re-invent the wheel. But if even, the cost of having it done may not be worth the effort.

It's been awhile since I rebarreled a 77 , but if my memory is correct, it does not have and extractor cut . Which means it can be done , it just would cost you , your smith can take measurements , record them and cut a barrel with or without the extended threading needed for the nut . He would also need to make the nut . It will be the same either with or without as far as your ability to install your barrel . You will need a action vise , barrel wrench , if you use the same smith , you can install a barrel without the nut .
If you think commercial barrels will be available , I seriously doubt it .

It's not hard to change a barrel that is set with a shoulder. And then the head space is set the same and right from the get go. Barrel vice and a wrench and your going.
