Ruger no1 barrel

I am looking at getting a ruger no1. Gonna be a custom project. I found an action with wood. Needs a barrel. What other work am I looking at having to do or get done if the barrel I get is a different caliber that'll what was original?

Also any recommendations on a round that will push a 70-80gr 4k+ fs?
Wildcats are perfectly OK and probably preferred as I already reload. Something with easy to obtain brass is a must.

There are 3 styles of ejector. Hornet, rimless, rimmed. Bolt face doesn't matter.

Your new barrel will need the ejector clearance cut, and drilled and tapped for either a rib or mounting blocks

Also, factory shank diameter is 1.15", but most will clear 1.2" fine with some minor inletting.

what part of the world are you in, if your close to the Houston area i’ll give you the name and phone number of a gunsmith that’s good on re-barreling Ruger 1s, send me a note and i’ll get his number for you.

I just spoke to a gentleman today that boasted of his 22/284 in the velocities you seek.
He also raved about using Barnes Solid Coppers, (bullets won't come apart you see)
he uses an 8 twist
-----------
Edit I should add, he gets his bullets coated with Tungsten Disulfide to cut down on friction heat, which extends barrel life
I know the Boron Nitride seems to work well in my hot rod cutting down throat erosion

A 257 wby stw. Read someone is getting 4100 out of a 100 gr

I want to head hunt at 3-400 so looking for something super flat shooting
