Ruger M77R .220 Swift

Got some new bullets yesterday, Sierra 60 grain hollow points #1375, and decided to throw together a load kind of on the spur of the moment. 33 grains of 4064 and seated at 10 thousandths off the lands. Had a 6 shot group at .591 and a 3 shot group at .290! Now if I can just get it to repeat! Thanks Andy3030 for the bullets!!

You must have forgotten which rifle you really shot that with! Did you also forget that "Rugers don't shoot'? lol

My Remington 700 sendero 220 Swift, has been very accurate with a variety of powders...36 gr of 4064 and a 52 - 53 gr match bullet will shoot 5 shots into .3" or less alot...a fun caliber.

I don't have a bolt action in .220 Swift. I have the Swift in two Ruger No. 1s. I would like to have a bolt action Ruger that shoots like the OP's rifle, or even a Remington 700.

I own 10 or 12 Ruger's, everything from sporter barreled 77R's to heavy barreled No 1's and 77V's and they all shoot 1 inch or better and they've not had anything done to them other then some of them have better triggers. However I will say that they can't compete with my ol standby Rem 700 ADL in .222. But not much can as far as a factory rifle.

Seriously now, though, I have a bunch of Rugers, and out of the ones I have shot enough, I have not had any bad luck, except for my Sporter weight 77/22 Hornet, but I think that a lot of that was shooter/equipment error. I think that today, I could get decent results with it. I would like to give another try with an All Weather 77/22 Hornet.

My old 77 sporter was terrible with barrel whip. 3 shots then let cool, 5 at the max. May be the same with yours. I had consistancy problems in load development, slowed down the shooting and it came together. Having said that, I am personally biased against Ruger rifles, but thats just me. Will not comment further.

I’ve had two 77/22 hornets , I’ve rebarreled and everything I could think of and never could get accuracy out of them.

I got a m77 VT in 223 2nd hand about 4 years ago. Damn thing is a shooter. Just heavy to carry into stands. Bought a savage axis thats just way lighter for that. Still love that ruger. I do wish that the bolt was not so close to scope though. Trying to rack a round fast for another shot on coyotes sometimes takes some skin off your fingers.
