Ruger m77 vt 22 ppc

I picked up a Ruger m77 22 ppc on gunbroker, How rare are these guns? Does anybody have any recomended starting loads, I have on hand RL 10x, h322, Varget, H335, 40 and 50 grain vmax pills and 52 grain A-max's. This will be my first experience with a ruger varmint rifle.

I don't have any loading data, but I no that ruger did offer the M77 mark 2 in 22ppc and 6ppc in the early to the mid 90s. Then ruger got sued over the proceeds or something along those lines. Not sure of all the details but ruger no longer manurfactors the 22ppc or 6ppc because of the lawsuit.

Yes, I had one, sold a while back on this site. It was a nice well made rifle, I just was not crazy about the 22ppc: much prefer my 6ppc and the 22BR. Before I bought it, at an estate sale, I checked out the bore with my "Hawkeye" and it was obvious it had never been fired, and the condition of the bore was immaculate. Looked like my hand-lapped Krieger, Shilen & hart barrels. Not a single reamer or tool mark anywhere. Someone said that Ruger was using Douglas and Wilson barrels on the ppc rifles, although I cannot confirm that, but the barrel was way above the "usual" factory standard. Yes, the story of the lawsuit by PPC is true. Bill Ruger refused to pay the small royalty fee (which Sako and others did), they took him to court, he lost, then stopped making them. " Bolt Action Rifles", expanded 3 rd edition, by Frank de Haas has a section covering the Ruger ppc chamberings.

I bought one back in the 90s. Still have it. H322 works well. My load is 53 gr. hornady match bullet with imr 8208.

thanks for the replys, are they generally good shooters?
I have a Ruger M77 Hawkeye in 204 Ruger. The first time I shot it, that rifle proved to be far more accurate than I had imagined a factory stock rifle could be. I would look for one in a different cartridge but left handed ones are very rare. Actually, other than the one I have, I have never seen another lefty for sale.

Please let me know if you can’t get it to shoot.I’d like to have one of those :p

For years I thought the M77VT was the best bargain out there. I bought many at 400-450
Then the masses figured out how good they are!
I have sold most of them at the shooting range when buddies would see how good they shoot and how affordable they were
I was on a huge Ruger kick and have a VT in both PPC calibers as well as a 6mmPPC single shot NO.1
It has been over 15 years since I have fired any of them or reloaded for a PPC
