Ruger m77 mkii or CZ 550 medium action

Hello everyone, I recently acquired a stainless Ruger m77 mkii in 7mm rem mag and a cz 550 in 7mm rem mag.

I was looking to replace stock barrel with a 7mm lrm and put a Boyd stock on it. The cz has a set trigger and the Ruger would need one replaced with a timney for $125.
Also the magwell for the cz is about 1/8” longer so it would fit longer rounds.
The question is...which one would you choose and why?
Any help is appreciated.

Both are real good. You can replace the trigger spring in the ruger and hone the trigger very easily for about 7 bucks which will get you down to about 3-3.5 pounds. An advanced trigger job will get you down to 1.5-2.5.#. The safety on the ruger is generally preferred to the CZ. Rugers are difficult to chase accuracy issues so make sure it shoots and functions correctly in original shape and check action and threads for proper center. IMO, redoing a ruger requires starting with an accurate one. Never customized a CZ though as they all shot good enough in original form. I have a couple threads about redoing a ruger and it shoots very nicely and looks nice too.

I prefer the CZ550. I put an aftermarket trigger in mine. I'm not a Boyd's fan because of their customer service. I prefer Stockys.
