Ruger M77 Mark II load for Barns 80g TTSXBT

Hello all and thanks for letting me join the group. My first post but have learned some great info from all of you. Had to share a success story in hopes it helps someone else. I have a ruger Mark II, .243 that always shot like a dream until California forced the switch to copper. Then my nightmare began. Long story short it took close to a year and hundreds of dollars in components but I finally found a sub MOA load for this rifle. If anyone is having similar issues give this a try.

46.5g Hodgdon Superformance
Cartridge over all length 2.6185”
0.43” groups with bedded action and 2.5lb trigger. Did all the gunsmithing myself and it wasn’t all that difficult.

What kind of jump did you end up with?

I've always seen these TTSX bullets wanted to be seated deep with lots of jump, so I am curious if this rig wanted the same?

These are short bullet's, so most guns you will not be close to rifling. They are very accurate with the right powder.

Barnes, (with an E) specifies a 0.050" from the lands seating depth, as with most other monos.

A taper crimp, like a Lee Factory Crimp, has been known to help with accuracy also.

Theory is that since monos are harder to imprint the rifling into, they like the running start & the crimp helps keep the bullet in the neck just long enough to help pressures build up.

I had the same problem with my Ruger, i replaced everything except the slingswivels with Tikka parts. Now it's accurate.
