Ruger American Mags

timeout

Silver $$ Contributor
I purchased a Ruger American in .223 with an 8 twist barrel. I wanted to shoot the heavy Hornady Vmax bullets. The freebore was perfect. My problem was with the rotary mag. There is no way to seat the bullet so it will fit into the mag. I investigated the mag construction and came up with a possible solution. I worked with a friend that had the necessary equipment to modify the mag. I have the first prototype in my rifle and we are tweaking it a bit. I'm wondering if there is any interest out there for these mags? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Still might be interested. Can he open up the width? I am running mine with a Ackley caliber and I cant get them to feed good they go in ok but then they don't want to pop up to load the next round.

I'm guessing that he can. Not sure if he would want to set up for one mag alteration? We want to workout a small bug in the length mag first for sure.

Ok let me know how it comes out and if he can do what I need. And I would want two or three done. Thanks
I will tell him. We would need a dummy loaded cartridge for certain and a mag. Upon surveying the situation, I can assess the probability of success. You can PM me to discuss it further.
