Ruger actions?

My buddy has a ruger 204 and it shoots like crap. He wants to have a new barrel put on and my ? is, is the ruger action worth the money to have a barrel put on or would he be better off selling it and buying a different kind of gun?

Not sure I would build one for BR but my shooting partner has a stainless LA Ruger that he had trued and rebarreled with a heavy contoured Hart barrel chambered in 7RM and that thing will shoot. From what he says the smith charges more to true a Ruger than a Remington so that would be something to check on if you are going to go that route. I'm a Remington fan but those stainless Ruger actions sure look cool.

Tell him to sell/trade it and get a Remington or Savage action. He will find more and better parts for it and they will retain their value much better.
