Ruger 77/22 vs CZ 452

I'm looking for a new 22lr rimfire boltgun and would like an opinon plus pros & cons of these two candidates. The gun will be used for rimfire matches and 200 yard F-class club matches. Thanks

I had both, and kept the CZ. There's no comparison in the out-of-the-box accuracy, CZ outran the Ruger with every different ammo tried in both. Best ammo I've found for the CZ is Lapua Center-x...and the CZ's are cheaper!

Jeff thanks, saturday I was at one of my local toy stores and they had a 77/22 for $1800 but it had a intregral suppressor, but the bolt was smooth and easy to operate. I had a 10/22 and did not like it and I also have two pistols, a 22/45 & MkII which i don't like either. So it does not suprise me to read your comment, I had to ask before I "pulled the trigger."

I have a 22 mag 77/22 and it is a tack driver and 3 mark 2 pistols with only crown jobs and they shoot phenominal. What gives?

Jon, what type of crown did you put on your pistols? I might as well try that since no one in my neighborhood has been interested in buying them. Maybe this nut will be able to get behind the trigger again.

I have had many 22's.

I have a CZ453 (set trigger) It will shoot with the best , and flat beat them.
The Quality of CZ is why ahead of the Ruger .

+1 & way ahead of any Marlin or Remington .22

Set your compound to 15 degrees for a 30 degree crown and that is what I did and it made the gun way more accurate.Just don't take much off as you will machine the front site off,LOL The second thing that helps some is having someone do a trigger job.Mine I felt did not need it. If all else fails get a volquartzen barrel or a clark for way better and smoother barrels.I found the factory crown to be rough and it wouldn't print the carbon track on the muzzle correctly. After I crowned it ,it leaves a perfectly centered star track on the muzzle. My stainless heavy barrel rivals my high standard supermatic citation and it is a tack driver.

I just picked (in transit) up a CZ 452 american LH 22lr and a LH CZ 527 LH 223. I have always liked them and finally bought them both. Something about the nostalgia with the 452 and my childhood.....glad i finally scratched that itch.

Thanks for asking the question Ron. I have both and was thinking of selling one of them. I havent shot them enough to make a suggestion to you.

I have no experience with CZ, but my experience with Ruger is similar to Jonbearman. I have two MKII pistols that shoot lights out, a 10/22 that prints dime sized groups at 50yds, and a 77/22 that will put head shots on squirrels at close to 100.
