Ruger #3 question

Does anybody out there have any experience re barreling a Ruger number three are they a pain in the ass or is it doable thanks

I wouldn't think it to be much different from a "standard" barreling job. I have replaced a barrel a on a browning model 78 and it wasn't difficult.

Only things that can be an issue.

1- barrel diameter must be smaller than the forearm support. Otherwise you will not be able to thread the barrel on.

2- you must set the barrel breach quite far away from the Chuck so you can check the threads and progress of the chamber . You do this so you can clear the forearm support as you spin it on the barrel.

3- cutting the extractor notch . I use a mill with a keyway cutter. If you are careful you can file the notch. Takes a bit but is doeable.

Hope his helps
