Ruger 10/22

Went to a small show today. Told myself no more guns. Well that didn't work out so well. First table a guy had a Ruger 10/22 with a Green Mountain barrel in a B&C Anschutz style stock. Super clean little rifle and a decent price. Even had a Harrier (??) 3-12 scope. A little haggling and got him to drop $50 and tax so I bought it. Hurried home and grabbed my two two ammo and headed to the range. First off, the scope wasn't sighted in but I kinda figured that. Got my targets up and dug into my ammo box. As par for me, I left my SK and Wolfe at home along with my Standard Plus. I had some Tac and it shot really well, then some Eley and not to bad. Fed HV was a wash and the Aquillia was decent but then I had a new box of Norma Match. Now we're getting some where. It shot this like a little bench rifle. Now I just need to remember where I got it so I can buy more. It was suppose to have a tuned trigger.....well, it could stand some more tuning. I'll probably just replace it with something later. Its livable at 3 pounds but kinda heavy for my taste.

Almost forgot the scope. It is one I have never heard of, Harrier? Adjustments worked good but it was like looking through a glass of milk. After 5 rounds my eyes felt crossed so its already been replaced with a Vortex Diamondback.

I've had a few over the years and they came a went. I have a Savage that shoots good but not like this little Ruger. I did a little searching and I have less in the rifle than the cost of the stock and barrel.

They do really good work on 10/22s. A group of friends sent our triggers to them some years back and they are excellent 6-8 ozs.

I tried searching for CTC and found spray nozzles for plastic bottles. A little more information please.

I think you meant CPC. I found them and they do 10/22 triggers. I do like what I'm reading about the Timney Elite triggers but they're a little on the pricey side.

Yes my bad. I always seem to get that messed up. They reworked our factory triggers. They were about 40-45 dollars each when we had them done. minus shipping. I've never had any issues at all with mine.

I thought about building a 10/22 a few years ago. Buddy has one all tricked out, looked at what he had in his build. I sold my 10/22’s and just ordered a KIDD, one and done. No regrets.

I think if you want the ultimate 10-22 or even a Remington semi-auto you need to talk to Joe Chacon.

I'm not a competitive shooter of any kind but enjoy my rifles. Buying very high end rifles on my budget is hard but I do the best I can with what I have to work with. That being said, the Ruger I bought has some decent parts and shoots very well but the trigger IMO was lacking. I was told the trigger had been tuned and I thought it needed more tuning, which it may. But with my trigger pull gauge, its breaking a 3 lbs. After looking at triggers, most aren't going to much lower than that so I guess maybe it isn't that bad. My gun funds are anemic right now so I need to watch my spending so I'll just wait on a better trigger for now. Maybe better quality ammo is a better route to take than a trigger at this time.

I get that, but I got lucky on one of the major parts, getting for free. I’m going to be into mine with all custom parts for around $1k. That’s with a 24” GM barrel, a Kidd 2stage and a KRG chassis. Should have everything by the weekend.

I started out with a Clarks custom 10/22 years ago.
Added a Kidd 3/3 2 stage trigger. Pricey but better than the 3-4 lb
they have on most 10/22
Shoots good enough. Now if I'm really trying, break out the custom CZ 457

I don’t know what a barreled action from KIDD is today, but when I did mine stock and all I was right at $1200. That was right at what my buddy had in his at the time, that didn’t include all of the extras he tried and didn’t get any results worth the $.

I have several rigs still that I did a one piece at a time, they were budget builds I didn’t have the funds for then. Most are ugly as sin, lol.

Buddy loaned me a PCP air rig he put together some years back. Will shoot slugs and pellets. It looks like Frankenstein but will average with rigs in the $2-4000 range. He spent a lot of time tinkering with it and swapping components. He will not talk about what kind of money he has in it over all. It makes his Panthera and a couple of Impacts look ill.

My KIDD will be the last .22 powder burner I ever spend money on. I have been bitten by the AIR bug and there is no turning back. My 22RF struggle to group as well as my PCP’s with a lot less headaches.
