Toss up. With a 10/22 you never know which way will shoot better with any given brand and style of stock until you try. Very good percentage chance that the non free floated one will shoot better with a little tinkering with pressure point location and amount of pressure.

Got really lucky almost no wind from daybreak till 11:00 am.
Wood stock is not floated. Plastic stock is floated.

All shots at 100 yards.

Shot the inital groups with SK Std+.

I think the Eley Target (wood) did pretty well!

If fully floating the barrel then something’s got to hang onto, preferably anchor down, the receiver’s backside to counter all that unsupported weight hung off the receiver’s front.

There is a reason why I prefer Eley Match and RWS-50 (when I can find RWS-50).

Crazy as this sounds, give Federal Lightnings a try. For reasons I cannot explain I've never seen a rifle that didn't shoot surprisingly well with them.
