RSI Pressuretrace

Greetings everyone. Does anyone have experience with the RSI Pressuretrace system, and the Shooting Lab software? Looks like a very good way to develop loads, but I would like to hear from folks who have actually used it.

+1 I too am looking hard a the pressure trace and accuracy software for use on multiple firearms. Has anyone got any real world experiences that they would like to share.

I can vouch for the software. I think it is the best software out there. Nothing else even comes close.

I have one of the first models out. It's useful for determining if a powder is too slow for the bullet and a fun toy. The RSI shooting lab is great software for tracking loads. Jim has made the database SQL now so you can import into other programs and do all sorts of analysis. He also has great customer service.

Thanks CPorter. Is there any validity to the OBT theory, or have you noticed a difference in loading rounds to correspond to those harmonics points?

I do use the OBT theory to develop loads using Quickload. It is not a perfect prediction but it does pretty good. The velocities predicted by Quickload are a little off until you tweak the powder profile but getting close to the predicted velocity and accuracy node. The pressure trace will help confirm you are at the node and will also help tweak the curve in Quickload.

I have strain gauges and designed an amplifier, but I have decided that Quickload helps me find a starting point, and brass life is the limit.

I just downloaded the trial offer for the RSI shooting lab before I checked the board, if you are thinking about buying the software I recommend the 30 day trial. I briefly looked at the program and it seems to be able to track everything down to how many rounds you have of a certain load. Impressive. It also has all of the other gadgets that all of the other programs offer and more. It seems like a good learning tool and has functions that I,in my limited experience) have no idea how to use or how it is useful, but that's where the learning comes in. It also has a spreadsheet for gun information which is a bonus for people who have 75 plus guns like my buddy who I will be recommending the software to purely for tracking purposes. Can you imagine remembering load data for that many guns! It seems like a very through program and I will probably be buying it when funds become available.

Thanks guys. I have been playing around with the demo version of the software, and like what I see so far. I guess what I'm looking for is a consensus on whether the hardware/software combo is worth the investment. At around $700, it's not a minor purchase for my budget. With dies and specialty gear to step up from pistol to rifle reloading, I'm looking at an easy $1000. Even at almost $40 a box, that's still a lot of factory match ammo I could be shooting instead.

Two of the indicators I am seeing is there are a lot of professional organizations using them, and I don't see any used units for sale, anywhere. The latter tells me that the people who buy them, keep them.

Any thoughts on the matter?
