RRA Free float handguard removal

Does the factory RRA handguard unscrew seperately from the barrel nut or is the handguard and the barrel nut all one assembly. I have a quad rail on my LAR-8 and Im wanting to replace it with a smooth free float tube. Need some advise. THANKS

Is the hand guard carbon fiber? If so you will need to apply heat to it because they are epoxied on the barrel nut.

All free float hand are attached to the barrel nut by either threads or epoxy. The gas tube goes through the barrel nut so they cannot be one piece.

Thanks, It is not carbon fiber. Just a factory quad rail. I dont like it so I am going to replace it with a smooth one. Thanks again
