RR Predator pursuit rifle VS custom ar spr rifle

my plan is to shoot rocks and steel out to 600 yards. I thought I might build a nice ar with a billet upper and lower, then I thought id buy a shilen or Krieger 20" barrel. my goal is to make a really accurate long distant rifle, just for fun. after adding up what this spr is going to cost me I started questioning myself about just how bad do I really want this rifle??? After some research, I came across the rock river predator pursuit. This rifle looks pretty darn good. 2 stage trigger, 20" match barrel, and a price about half as much as the rifle I thought id build. I guess what id like to know, is just how much better or how much more accurate can a custom rifle really be? Any thoughts or suggestions?? Thanks Lee

It's hard to beat the RRA for the money.
I have a varmint from 6-7 years ago that will out shoot every other AR I have or still have.

I just built a Seekins Billet upper with forend attached and lower, Wilson combat barrel, RRA parts kit, Geiselle(sp) trigger, etc, RRA shoots circles around it.
Have another in 6.8 built on a Black Rain Billet etc. Same Same.

Buy the RRA, get the stock and forend you want secial order or change, add a Geiselle trigger, done and less $$.

Another vote for Rock River. I have multiple Rock River AR's and they are of unbelievable quality compared to other brands and they shoot lights out. I actually had a tough time finding a load that would not shoot well. But to answer your question, I don't think you will beat the accuracy of a Rock River with a custom built AR.

Lee what type of accuracy do you want the rifle to have, 1moa, .5moa or better? I recently threw an AR together with a PSA lower and a Bravo company upper and that thing has been the most consistently accurate factory rifle I've every owned.

I've shot several different varmint bullet through this thing and every one (I'm not lying, every single load) have been 1 moa or better. This is with 35, 40, 50 and 55 grain varmint bullets and this is for 5 shot groups. I have not tried any tuning with these things, just mag COAL and mid charge of 8208 or 4895, so I think I could squeeze some more accuracy but who knows how much. I'm just stating how impressed with the accuracy of a typical out of the box I am with this thing

I know if I were able to hunt varmints with a semi I would still want better than 1 moa, I'd want .5MOA (who wouldn't) I would bet that if I were to have some chamber up a Krieger that .5moa would be easily achieved and ar was less than $900.

Find a used AR and order yourself a barrel from Mark Chanlyn.
You got all the tools Lee, order a barrel extension and go for it.
