Round vs vee in stock

I am going to try to make a aluminum stock for my xp 100 , I know the traditional is round action inlet but it will be easier to make a vee in it. I don't know if it would eventually round the edges on the vee . I am planning to chamber in a 6mm super lr . Thoughts?
Thanks Jason

Without a idea of what your design looks like it's hard to make any suggestions. When I did my Metal Mayhem 2 piece stocks I did make a buttstock for a 40X action. Since the backbone of the buttstock was 1" round aluminum bar I was able to mount the al bar vertically on my milling machine table and then use a boring bar to cut the radius to match the Rem rec. I then had to mill out the area for the trigger.

On the 40X I could drill and tap the "front trigger guard screw" to 1/4x28 to use as the front screw for mounting the buttstock. I don't know if this is possible on your action. Sadly, there will be no pics on this site of my design. I never shot the 40X stock on a centerfire so I don't know how quickly the back end of the action would pound out the recoil surface of the stock. On the Viper stock there was a lot more surface for recoil absorption.

The stock will have a rear grip design for AR style grip . It will probably 18 '' max length . I guess similar to chassis stock but for my XP pistol . The barrel is 1.2 for 3'' strait taper to .750 @ 15 inches . I will have a brake on it , I don't think it will be too much barrel to hang off of this. Thanks

Jason, This is just me rambling so take it as an old man babbling on. When I did my 15" 243 on a Savage PTA. I couldn't find a stock for it. I took a Choate which has a full length aluminum block in it and cut the butt off. The action sits solidly in the aluminum V and I like it. Torqued to 55 in lbs the action, barrel and stock are solid. I've had the action & barrel back out of the stock a few times and there are no marks or scuffs left on the bottom of the action. Also the V's in the stock look like new, don't know what grade of aluminum Choate uses but it's the right one for sure. I'm really sold on the aluminum V rather than pillars. I just got a N Cooper unfinished laminated stock and plan to inlet a Whidden V block into it before I finish it.

Good luck on your project. This link has a few pics of a center grip prototype on the drawing board.

Ok thanks I liked the idea of doing vee design but didn't know how it would hold up , I will be using 6061 . Thank's let me know how it turns out !

I have put V blocks made of 6061 in multiple stocks ranging from Savage CF actions, 700's, and CZ rimfire. None of them are bedded and they shoot great.
