Rough price for savage barrel set back and rechambered ?

I might be looking to go down this route in the near future, just wondering what a rough price might be for a job like that on a stainless barrel small shank. Thanks

If it's a factory savage just toss it in the garbage. Call Mcgowen, Pacnor, or James at Northland shooters supply.

Probably $400 for a brand new custom barrel.
Not a factory barrel. +/- 400 rounds down it.

It’s currently 223 wylde. I know, I know, it’s been hashed out over the forums pros, cons, there isn’t a difference vs there is a difference. I just would like to know what it could possibly cost.

I’ve had a factory Savage .233 barrel rechambered to 22-243ai with no setback required for $100. Realistically, setting back and rechambering your Savage barrel should cost the same as threading and chambering a new barrel. I think I paid around $500 for the last time I had a quality blank chambered and threaded for a Savage action, but it also required some minor contour work and I had the muzzle threaded.

There are folks who do their own work that set back good barrels, but nobody really talks about it because it’s not internet cool.

I really believe that your best value would be found in purchasing a new pre-fit.

Man knows what he wants; someone take his money already
Amen. Just what ever it would take to turn a wylde chamber into a 223 with .060 freebore on a stainless savage small shank with 400 rounds down the tube. If it was feasible great, of not maybe I’ll take my time looking for a barrel.

Just curious... are you having a problem or trying to fix something? If you brought me a barrel and said "I need a 223 with a 60 freebore" - I'd pull out my Wylde reamer.

I have to ask, what brand barrel is the one you are currently shooting?
