In the course of tuning up this Kodiak action, the bolt opening/closing wasn't as smooth as it should have been. I had checked the spring and it was right where it should have been. I pulled the spring to get a better look and grabbing my pack of extra springs, the difference was apparent. The spring that was in it had 30 coils and the helix angle was more than the standard spring that has 35 coils. Both springs have the exact same outer diameter and wire diameter. I plopped the standard spring on it and the bolt opening/closing was like butter. The high helix angle spring was evidently 'stacking' and dragging slightly on the inner bolt body and the pin shank. Again, both springs showed the exact same static and fully cocked pressure. Just a heads up and something to look at if you're trying to separate the pepper from the fly poop.
