ROTATOR CUFF AGAIN

Well here we go again. I'm 4 months out from surgery and just found out my surgery was a complete failure, everything that was repaired has come apart. I followed the dr. and therapist instructions to a T, that did no good, the tears are worse now than before (completely torn now).
See the dr. on the 15th to hopefully find a solution. I think i am going to ask for a replacement, less pain involved and heals faster.
I haven't had a night sleep since the beginning of June and it is starting to take its toll.
Almost 73, Who says these are the "GOLDEN YEARS". Oh well it could be worse, I guess.

The same doctor? Rotator surgery on both shoulders. They are no fun. Good luck. I hope you get things squared away.

sorry to hear that- i hope you can get it straitened out

Man I I had a slap tear that originally thought to be a rotator cuff so I know some of your pain and I wish you a fast recovery.
My father in law is your age and week before thanksgiving he fell off a ladder landed on his shoulder breaking it that requires plate and pins. He’s a stubborn mule and was trying to get on a ladder this week again

I cross the fingers for successful procedure. I went through shoulder surgery couple years ago. Before that I did a thorough research on who the best expert in this particular type of surgery is. There are doctors and doctors. But there is always risk involvef. Even the best guy can have a bad day.

I go on the 14th for examination of both shoulders. They're to the point that it's a high possibility that they'll both need replacement. I'm ready at 65 years old to get this done. They've been slowing me down. Good luck and heal quickly and completely.

My dad fell months ago and just got mri. Surgery will be scheduled. I did something to mine trying to start generator when Helene hit us. Dr gave me steroid injection. Still hurts. Hope you get yours back to painless and better yet functioning.

I have had surgery on both shoulders. First was repairs on a lot of problems. It healed and is fine now but recovery was a bear, extremely painful and long rehab.
I am doing PT on my other shoulder now. It was a replacement and the pain is nothing compared to the repair. However I am learning that there are drawbacks to replacements also. Some muscles are now gone and the remaining muscles can be overworked if not careful and become inflamed.
Still not sure what all the limitations will be with the replacement but I will do the best I can with what I have now.
Same age as you.

Best of luck with your situation.

I tore my left cuff back in July of last year. My surgeon told me that a reverse replacement was most emphatically the best option. I had it done in September and am now back to almost 100% range of motion. Still have a ways to go as far as strength is concerned but overall, it was a success.

I am so sorry, man I am knocking on the door of 6 months now since surgery for 3 tears. I did 2 months and PT after surgery and quit right after that. The reason I quit PT was I felt like if I continue with all those exercises I would tear something. I am letting my arm heal without all those exercises. I have full motion on my arm right now. The muscle will build back as the more I use it.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully the medical people can come up with a fix.

I live with pain 24 - 7, arthritis in my spine. I sleep about 4 hours a night on a good night. So, you are not alone brother.

My mom had a complete shoulder replacement in here 80's after falling and she made a full recovery so hopefully something can be done to get back to somewhat normal quality of life.

Had a reverse rotator done in 2014 Stainless steel ball and cup. I had shattered left shoulder in a fall down a mountain while hunting. have got 90% of motion back. but, no strength in my arm.
I do know when the weather is going to change!!

Sorry to hear about the less than expected outcome. My wife had the reverse joint replacement done in Louisville, Kentucky by a group that does nothing but shoulders and all went well. The options to repair it were offered with little confidence for long term success. Opinion was she could be back to have the replacement done at some point anyway because of the nature of the tissue involved, so she went the full route. Hope you're next option turns out to be the best for you.
