Rotator cuff 10 week update

If you stock LOP allows, put a Protector brick style sandbag behind the stock butt and your shoulder.
Not sure if people believe me or not but the rotator cuff hurts me as bad as hurt knees or back.... I couldn't even pick up a coke cane off the coffee table while laying on the couch.... It really hurt... Physical therapy helped me a lot but now twenty years later I still try and be real careful with it... It's one of those things I feel bad about when someone tells me it happened to them because I know it hurts...

About 10 years ago I had surgery for mine. Just recently the pain has returned. I am considering shooting right handed but not sure that is the remedy. I put a recoil reducer on the rear of my rifle and that helped, I wear a shooting jack, and that helped. Have an appt with the Doc, hope that will help. Maybe a shot or something. Not really wanting surgery.

Just got back from the doctors office, he said I can now move around without the sling now. I just need to be careful with my arm and not lift anything more then my own arm right now. Let me tell you my right arm feels like lead weight.

People that have had RC surgery understand and those that haven’t it’s hard to explain to them.

5 weeks post-op this morning.
I feel like if I had an assistant to help set-up, I could shoot a match. But I know thats not advised.
im surprised how fast its healing, I only took a week off work after surgery because im a desk jockey, so the hardest task for me was using the mouse.
Right arm is still mostly useless though, I have to grab my jeans with right hand, then lean against the wall , so that I can pull the left side over to button them, and I know I couldnt extend my right arm far enough forward to reach the trigger, much less work the action from a seated position.
So .. I will get ready for next year. .. ;-(

Six and a half weeks out. I went in to repair a torn bicep and my doctor scoped the shoulder, found a RC tear and bone spurs that caused the detachment. I stopped pain meds after five days and am feeling great. I just started PT with light weight, taking it easy. The doctor was very pleased at my six week followup, even said I could start shooting a little rimfire. He's telling me I should be able to shoot my Model 70 Varmint Sporter by deer season mid November. I'll be missing out on the annual mid range match in October though, bummer. Going to be a while for shotgun or black powder.

I've posted this already but a good muzzle break can do wonders and they are so common now.... The install of a good recoil pad is great also but you have to try a few to find the one that helps the most because they are definitely not all created equal.... Combine those things with a caliber change can be absolutely wonderful.... There is a ton of great low recoiling calibers out there that will reach out a pretty good distance.... If you don't have to shoot a 300 magnum why do it....

Well it has been 10 weeks since surgery and according to the therapist I am ahead of the curve, my answer to that is B.S. . My pain level is an 11 on a scale of 10. Still can't sleep, can't get comfortable, anywhere. I have plenty of movement and I'm starting to get some strength back (not much but some), fingers are still numb, now they say it is carpal tunnel another surgery if it doesn't clear up.
I was hoping to get back to shooting in mid Jan. but now I'm not sure.

Tell me about it. 3 surgeries on my left and 1 on the right. Also torn Labrum and Bi- cep tendon had to be cut loose and reattached with screws.
After 4 years ago being told I was a prime candidate for a reverse shoulder placement in 5-7 years and tearing my left rotator cuff for the 3rd time and told by my Ortho Dr not worth doing anything untill they replace my shoulder 14 months ago I went to Mexico 9 months ago and had both shoulders and back done with stem cell injections best 4100.00 ive ever spent on healthcare and 99.9% less painful.
Its 1500.00 per injection now but its well worth it by a long shot.

The Neurosurgeon that did mine said not even a 22 rifle from the bench for about four months. I tore two, Super Spinosa and the minor. My shoulder looks like the seams on a baseball...

You can take it very slow, or get it done a second time; is what my Dr told me.

I am now 17 weeks post surgery. My fingers really did not start feeling normal until about 12 weeks, they where always stiff and numb in the mornings. I stop PT at week 13 or 14, because of the amount of money this was costing me to do things I could do on my own. At week 13 I was able to move my arm 360 no problem, the pain was there hit or miss. I am going to wait 2 more months to allow more healing before I start on weights. I am back to shooting again, and will be doing a shoot this weekend. Hang in there, you should start seeing better days in 6 weeks.

I heard about this, how does stem cells re-attach muscles and tendons back to the shoulder? I torn my labrum, supersomething, and had a bicep cut and re-attached.

I'm no Dr.but what I can tell you is stem cells regenerate tissue. What I can tell you is my torn rotator cuff I tore over a year ago for the 3rd time is zero pain now.
Do your research and open up your mind to there is different alternatives. Watch a YouTube video titled " stem cell treatment in Chelem Yucatan of all places" its by Mid CityBeat. Its tge Dr who did my treatments.
Not all Stem cell treatments are the same. Stem Cells from Cord blood and the Placenta are what you want mixed with exozomes and your own prp and the injured area pinpointed with ultra sound.
Mexico is far ahead of the U.S in stem cell therapy, its why I went there plus its way cheaper.
What I do know is I was tired of hurting now im 90% pain free and its a helluva lot less intrusive. I finally came to the conclusion that I had nothing to lose and everything to gain.

When I my shoulder done I didnt care to shoot for 5 months till I could handle it. I had open shoulder surgery which is way worse than arthroscopic surgery. If I was you talk to your surgeon and do what he says to the Tee.

Sure sorry to hear about the pain. Maybe at some point it will suddenly go away and you will get some relief.
