Rookie question-Swaging die

I've never messed with military brass as I always thought it was a PITA messing with primer pockets. But the other day, I ran across a swaging die set pretty cheap and bought it. I have some brass that I thought I would mess with just for grins. I figured out how to use the die set but have a simple question. I deprimed and resized and the tumbled my brass and ready to swag the primer pockets. Do I need to resize again after working the primer pockets? I resized the brass to fit my rifle when depriming. Should I run it through my sizing die again? Sorry for the rookie question.

Nope is my quick answer and my experience.

Since you don't mention what brand swage die you acquired, I use both the RCBS and the Dillon Super Swage 600. With those, when I swage the primer pocker it finishes with a nice roll to eliminate the protrusion. I suppose it could be possible with a different unit possible adjusted incorrectly (too much swage) to form a roll of brass that raises above the case head and reduces the datum to case head dimension. But if you resize your brass to accommodate this, it will flatten on the first firing and you will have a case with shorter case head to datum than you initially sized for.

Depends on which RCBS swager you got. If it is the press-mounted version, no need to re-size. If it is the bench-mounted model, yes, I'd resize, as there is tension placed on the rod supporting the mouth of the brass when swaging takes place.

I swaged about 60 cases and primed them today. Primers went in but they were pretty tight. I guess that's not a bad thing???
