Just made a serendipitous discovery while swaging the crimps on LC 5.56 brass.
I noticed that cases which would not stick to the swaging punch had oversize pockets. So now I swage all primer pockets to check for this, regardless of caliber. If the case does not have to be forcibly removed from the punch, it's no-go.
This also has an added benefit of work hardening the primer pocket mouth. It is important to make sure the punch is cleaned of debris and residue to get an accurate result.
My swaging kit is an old RCBS, and I can't say if other manufacturers dies have the same punch dimensions.
