Rookie mistake

Well I was prepping some 6BR brass and I completely missed a step. I did not clean my primer pockets. I did not catch this until I primed approximately 15 pieces. I'm assuming it's no big deal. I was just curious and making sure this is not a big issue.

I stopped doing that once I read that, did not see any affect or change in my groupings
it's more of a feel good move, (making everything shiny) that does not help make anything accurate

I do it to ensure the anvil is fully seated against the pocket bottom instead of on top of crud. Some folks uniform pockets for consistency. Leaving the crud in brings back a variation in seating depth or crush. Does it matter? If not then we need not uniform pockets

A Primer firing , no powder in case, produces around 23,000 PSI on firing.
This will clear the flash hole, if needed.

Carbon buildup may produce a high primer, when seated. Think slam fire in autos. Action may not be fully locked.

The only thing I do to the primer pocket is make certain that the flash hole is clear.

Cleaning primer pockets is a labor of love. I just have never felt it. Advice and statistical data on it's usefulness are all over the map.

Along with the lint in your pants pocket there may be a coin to toss.

That's nothing; wait till you load about 10-15 rounds then you realize you forgot to put the primers in and I've been loading for over 50 years!!
In reloading there are those that have made an error and there are those that will make an error.

Lol, it really is worth the 10 bucks to me. I scrape around the inside of the case with it too and give the case a tap on the workbench to make sure everything comes out.

I recently I read an article by a primer manufactured engineer. According to it primer/anvil crush is fake news. I clean primer pockets and flash holes just for consistency.
