Roe deer hunting with 8 mm Mauser

Just to share a few pics from last two weeks hunting trips. And yes I am aware that 8 mm is quite powerfull for roe deer hunting, but that is the most common caliber here and it is widely used for most hunting purposes.
I run my M48 with 175 gr PPU (Prvi Partizan) PSP BT bullets (best group on 100 meters also added).
Two of these roe deer were harvested at evening hunts, around 19:15 and third one in morning hunt at 6:30. Distances were from 150-180 yards, two from stands (well one from stand and one in a sort of a stalking) and one from the car used to search the grounds. Two were taken down with neck shots (and no meat loss) and third one with high shoulder shot, also with minimal damage.

It is so neat to see such photos from "other places" than the states. Nice photos, nice shooting, beautiful deer

Nice harvest. I load 175 gr Sierra bullets for the 8x57JS. Shoots great and kills white tail deer DEAD.

Anyone load heavier for Elk ? -thanks.

I have Nosler Partitions at 2515 fps out of Tikka with a 22-inch barrel. Paper only so far, one can dream. . . . .

If I hunted Elk, I would use Accubonds - sadly, Elk is way out of my price league.
Accubond isnt :)

Best group I got with them at 100 meters

And this is my rig (new stock, old one broke at the tang)

Great looking grain in that stock, and the Schnabel forend really adds class. Nice looking rig. I inherited an old Nazi 8mm JS that was sporterized, from a family member. That thing has killed a truck load of deer, hogs and even an elk with 150gn Sierra Game Kings. I just keep shots well within 300yds and everything has either been DRT or just a short bolt and then they are done. The old 8x57 is a fine hunting cartridge, for sure.

Yes sir, the 8mm Mauser is a killer for sure...great shot, nice deer and though I have never tried it I am sure there is some good eating right there!!! Thanks for posting!!! I agree, it is nice to see photos of hunts and rifles from someplace besides the U.S.

Did not know where "this" is until checking your Profile page. Serbia has recreational hunting?

Surprised to see that.

Also nice to share your skills and results with us.

Thanks for the kind words fellas :)
I dont know what falls under recreational hunting, we do have commercial hunting grounds and numerous agencies organizing hunting trips to our country.

small update on load development, I think I made the Accubond load even better on 100 meters :D
