Rods new rest top review

Just thought I'd chime in here, Rod's top has been deemed legal by ICFRA, so this is great news for F-class shooters, particularly anyone wanting to travel internationally and use the top.

Is there an email or some documentation confirming this ?

To Rod's point, I have seen a rifle on a firing point tested at Nationals, where when lifted, the rest (a NEO) lifted straight off the ground with it and remained clamped to the forearm without budging even a little. :-). I don't see how that would even be possible with Rod's setup.

^^^^Yup^^^^

No matter how hard I cinch down the ears on the Rodzilla my X-Ring wood and Kestros ZR aluminum rail stocks slide right out when lifted.

I shoot the Kestros ZR free recoil and lightly pin the X ring. They both track straight in the Rodzilla as they do in traditional bags.

Copy. Took the Rodzilla indoors today so start fireforming my new Shehane. Tracked like a dream off the bench, no torque at all.

Thanks for posting this Kris. I noticed you placed the level on the right where you can view it with the gun in the rest since you shoot from the other side of the rifle. I no longer even have levels on my rifles. I have checked the level on the rest and rifle after a long session while load developing and they always remain the same. I use a US optics non folding level that attaches to the rail on top of my Borden BRMXDs and a 6' level at 100 yds to square my crosshairs when mounting a scope. using this setup I have checked my tops ability to hold level over many shots and have never seen the gun and rest, not co-witness, ever. This is a good exercise to try when fireforming and you are shooting long strings from a bench. Try this and you will have the confidence to remove the level from the gun and just use the level on the 5-Axis top. Even if you don't have an exactly level setup it will stay the same and I believe that is the most critical for shooting small at long range. This is a feature built into the design of my sand bag arrangement. Rod B

I can now fit the 5-axis top to the Farley rests. I thought there might be a few folks wondering. It only requires two new mounting holes and it mounts just like with the SEB rests.

Hi Rod, thanks for advising mate. I have a friend with a Farley who may be very interested in this. What is the availability on this one and do you have an update on the revised sides which include the sand bags as opposed to rollers?

Kris, The Farley fitment is available now as we just add two new mounting holes to the standard base plate. With this design it will still fit the SEBS as well.
Since the rulings with NRA high power and ICFRA look like they are going to allow for rollers I have not worked on the side bag modification any further.
