Son and I got out this morning for rock chucks. He used the good old 6mm Rem and 75 gr Sierra hollow points at about 3100 fps mv. I used the .204 Ruger with 40 gr Hornady V-Max bullets handloaded to about 3800 fps. Both rifles were a hoot! We ended up with six rock chucks, tied up at three apiece.
The little .204 in the CZ platform is terrific! It never comes off target, so I could see my hits. Yes, the .204 will loft a chuck!
I've had the 6mm for 35 years now, and it's killed varmints & deer around the country. If you're used to the impact/results of a .17 HMR, .223 Rem or the .204 Ruger, the 6mm may shock you. It literally tears the chucks in half on impact!
We had a blast. The orchard owner was pleased. Left some for seed of course...
