Consider this, when I first started out reloading many years ago, I bought a used Rockchucker and she'll still alive and well today. But then I discovered that a Redding Big Boss is much more convenient to use as it has an "open face" to the shell holder and is easier to insert casings of all sorts than is the Rockchucker. And the Big Boss can accommodate larger caliber casings much better because the center shaft is larger on the Big Boss than the Rockchucker. Do it right the first time and if you want the BEST single stage press (IMHO), get the Redding Big Boss or if you want the Progressive style, the Redding T7 is your ticket.

If your looking to get started, LEE makes a very inexpensive "Do it All" Kit, for just over $100.
Press, beam, dropper, priming tool... It's a Great deal, if you're looking for hobby level equipment.
If you're looking to Upgrade, it is Cheaper to buy the BEST Products Available, When you can afford to replace your entry level ones, one at a time. Don't rush to "save some money" now, when you'll end up buying the better equipment eventually.

thanks for input all. I recently moved but couldn't find my press when unpacked back in march. Long story short I found it about a month ago in garage all rusty and locked up. It was an older rock chucker. I did soak it in krolls and eventually got it freed up but it does have some pitting. Just thinking it would be better to buy a new press. If this was 10 years ago I would just buy another RC

Call RCBS and they might restore your old RC. Or simply replace it if they deem it's not salvageable.
You never know till you call. I've heard plenty of stories of RCBS and other reloading companies stepping up going above and beyond to help out.

I also recommend calling rcbs about it first... Yes some of their stuff is made in China but their C/S AND WARRANTY are still outstanding.. I wouldn't be surprised if they fix it for free , it's why I keep buying their products...But like anything reloading there's a ton of options out there at almost any price point...

Alex why does everyone forget the top of the line Redding press, THE ULTRA MAG, IMO THE BEST Single stag press of them all. A better leverage system indeed. Resizes 50BMG cases with little effort.

I sold my RCII and bought a Forster. I also still have a Lee Classic Cast, which is every bit as good asmthe RCBS and with a better primer catcher system. The priming stuff on the RCBS is pitiful, IMO.

China keeps getting hammered in these threads. Unless it's a patriotic thing, China can make anything you want at any quality standard you set for the money. IF the company goes cheap, then you get cheap. Just like Georgia, Texas or name your location. You go cheap you get cheap.

Probably because I don't reload for a 50 Cal. And don't tell my son about the Ultra Mag or else he'll pester me to death because he wants me to buy him a Barrett. AIN'T HAPPENIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the original orange crusher is the only press besides a dillon permanently mounted on my reloading table. ive used it for 30yrs that i can remember. it has loaded a ton of non competition rounds for me over the years- ive even had to use the built in priming tool on occasion

Get him a State Arms...cheaper and will out shoot the more expensive Barrett AR-50 is also cheaper and out shoots the "B". Then, you'll have a reason for a Real Sized Press

BTW: I use Lee Presses for everything except my 50. I use a Hornady 50 BMG press for it.

Only comment- Be aware the factory primer catcher on the Rock Chucker does not work correctly. For+$20 you can get a 3D primer catcher system from the German.
