Robertson style stock (feel)

Looking for opinions on the Robertson style stocks, what are your likes or dislikes. My main Fclass (TR) stock is a prone stock from Masterclass, I also have a Mcmillan Anschutz Silhoutte for my 54. Those two stocks have basically the same feel. Looking at some of the Robertson copies and they just seem a little different, palm swell and that indented area. I don't shoot free recoil and like to somewhat get behind the rifle with thumb over the top in a conventional manner. It works for and I've shot high master with that method the last couple years...Hows thumb placement with that style. I know it's hard to describe the feel of the Robertson, just wondering if that was more of a free recoil style stock.

The one thing I like about mine is the lower center of gravity due less material under the barrel. It seems to balance better as the barreled action sits about 1/2" lower overall. Can't say it makes or breaks my scores but it is noticeable.

The Roberston is a great stock. The bore does sit quite high above the bag, so you do notice some torquing of the rifle. Because of that I was never able to get mine to shoot free recoil. If you like to hold the gun, I think you'll like it.

You and I must have two different stocks Alex! Is the F-Class version different from the Prone?

Yes they are.

Robertson Prone stock is diferent than the Robertson GBF stock, that has a very low center of gravity.

I wish Robertson would still be in business...

LRCampos.

Shurley Brothers is building the SOD stock, which is carbon copy(Speedy designed it too) of the Robertson F-Class stock expect on the SOD, they lowered the barrel and action into the stock to the same specs as the Lowrider that Shurley sells. I personally always loved the looks and feel of the Robertson in my hands, but as stated, no free recoil, and with big caliber such as 7mm's and up, it would torque pretty bad in the bags..the action and battle sets very low in the SOD, and is the perfect stock IMO...I own two now..
