RL50 in 300 RUM

You will NOT have a problem getting 103% (Max Load) of RL-50 into your brass. - I like the ADG stuff myself but have shot both Norma & Nosler brass with decent results. - They (Norma & Nosler) will loosen up at the primer pockets a lot quicker when we "Pour-The-Coal" to them. -I personally like 97.5 - 98.0 grains of Reloder-33 for an honest 3050 fps with the 230 gr. Berger in a long throated chamber and my brass is lasting longer.

My choice is the RL33. Had great results with it. I found some VVN570 at Scheels in Souix Falls back in August. Works great with 210gr. SMK's. But they only had 3 lbs. most of it is gone now. Don't get many rounds per pound with this cartridge.

I’m also looking to find more Reloder 50 as I use it in multiple cartridges.
I had to drive to Brandon, Miss. A couple weeks ago to get it. Things here in So. Central La. have been pretty scarce as far as supplies go at the brick & mortar shops and we all see how limited stuff is on-line.

Funny, I just ordered 8lbs of H50BMG for my 338-416 Rigby Improved after testing with a 1lb bottle.
I also found this powder works very well with my 264WM and 7STW.
I’ll be trying it out in one of my 300WM’s with 210gr and 230gr pills too.
I think the burn rates are very similar, but I like the fact that H50BMG is temp stable.
All very interesting all the same.

Pats reloading has WC872 which has worked very well in some of my earliest 300 RUMs. During barrel break in I shot one of the best groups ever with WC872. And it is cheap. It was recommended to use H870 data and it is very close to H870, which i would still be using if they still made it. I think H870 was the best 300RUM powder ever.

I haven’t but I just ran it in Quick Load and it should work.
with a 230 gr. Berger Hybrid and a COAL of 3.600 and a 26” BBL using a starting point of around 95 grains and it maxes out pressure wise at around 99 grains and yields very close to 3000 FPS.

If you have a longer barrel then it will surely work better. And yield better velocity.
Also, remember that Quick-Load is a program that produces hypothetical results.

My thoughts are, Reloder 50 is useable and Safe to try. Probably not as good a choice as Retumbo, N-570, or Reloder 33, but RL-50 is Safely usable.

I use US869 in 300 RUM with 250 Hornady ATIP. 26" barrel action machineed and bolt stop moved back, center feed 4.020" long cartridges...2985 fps with cartridges OAL 3.990" feeding from the magazine.
