RL22 Dirty powder

So, today I shot some using RL22 for the first time ever. Man, was my bore full of black gunk. Is RL22 considered a "dirty" powder.

I always thought so! But it shot so well in a 6.5 284 I had to keep using it.Be sure to keep the throat clean in what ever you shoot with it.

I'm shooting it in a 6-284. I'm "breaking" in a new barrel( per manufacturers instructions) so I can say I broke it in according to their instructions in the unlikely event I can't get it to shoot. For what that's worth!!

Small price to pay for such a forgiving powder. It cleans out easily. Gone through two eight pound kegs this year already. Scot

I found this to be true as well in my 284 Shehane. When I got to the top end it cleaned up nicely.

Must be the load. My 7mm mag load is probably equal or less dirty than factory Remington loads.

I never found it to be dirty . But it is when I shoot it is . Larry

It burns clean at max loads in my 240 WBY ; 257 Wby and 7mm STW. Accurate also.

I was shooting some light loads. But, tomorrow I'll be shooting some heftier loads. Oh well.
