rl 17 temp sensitive?

I am considering trying some RL 17 in my 7-08AI with 140's --concern the temp here is running 90-95 before I can get to the range,

any of you experience a problem at that temp range with 17?

Bob

Problem; not necessarily. But the real answer is Yes, it does display temp sensitivity. I shoot the 168 SMK ahead of 45.5 RL17 in 7MM-08. I would have no idea about how that works for any one else.

I use a lot of RL-17

It is used in my K-31 ammunition as it is the same powder used in the Swiss ammunition. I also use it in my 284 WIN F-Open/long range bench rest heavy gun. I also load my VZ-24 based 7X57 hunting rifle and my Grandson's Spanish Mauser hunting rifle. The temp sensitivity does not seem a problem till it gets in the 90's. My solution is to ignore it in hunting rifles, but for my 284 WIN I take the ammunition to the range in a small insulated bag and only take out ammo at the line and just enough for the relay. No problem.

I use RL-17 in a straight 7-08 . I have not had any heat related problems and I use a max plus powder charge . when it's hot I'm an early morning or late evening shooter . I'm sure I've shot it with temps in the mid to upper 80's without problems .

RL-17 is temp sensitive, but if you load for the temp you intend to shoot in it works fine.
I stopped using it in my .284 Shehane, but like it in my 22 BR.

If your thinking of shooting the Worlds F class in Ottawa Canada in 2017 don,t be using RL 17
It gets very hot in July & Aug 90+ and you could be blowing primers every that used Rl 17 in the big 7mm have switched back to 4831sc less speed but no blown primers
