Rl 16 vs h-4350

That's a hell of a group @220 My other (farther) ranges are still closed.
What brass are you using? Peterson or necking down Lapua.
Haven't tried the 109's but hearing really good things about them.
My powder charge is 40.0 and I won't go any higher. Using Peterson brass and it's full
not compressed but really close.
I’m using lapua brass.
I believe that will prove to be a fluke of a group. Fingers crosses cause 109’s traveling at 3060 would be awesome, but I’m doubtful I could shoot that small again.

41.5-42.0 seems a good range in 6.5cm with RL16 and 147s also. I haven't tested OAL variation at all yet, but it's already half moa at just 2.8"

What is your velocity with the 147s? I am running 2745 with Re 26 and stellar accuracy. Deer hate that load! lol.

I haven’t loaded the 147s yet with RL26. 140 RDFs flashed 2900 at 47.0gr in my 26” bbl. SDs low teens. Fell apart up there though, while 46-46.2 was 2/3 moa.

I’m confident 2800 is doable with RL26 and 147.

RL16 gives 2750 in my barrel with 147s at 41.7-42gr. Single digit SDs as RL16 is known for.

I have a 10 twist 6mm Acklery and use Reloder 16 with the 87 grain Hornady V maximum bullets. I have not chronographed and messed around with Reloder 16 statistical data yet but it shoots consistently better than any loads using H4350 with the same bullet and rifle. I am able to put 5 within 1 inch of the center of 3 inch steel at 300 with slightly less elevation correction than with H4350 with same 200 zero. Wide splash marks & pleasing impact sounds (bang, zip , splat) . My guess is that Reloder 16 provides more velocity as it is a double base powder containing about 6 % nitroglycerin - Reloder 16 is also touted to be temp change resistant by virtue of some sophisticated manufacturing process. Reloder 16 is less dense than many other powders and this appears to so comparing it to H4350. Reloder 16 comes in a tall black one pound bottle that is about 2/3 full and has some paper seal that is sort of glued on - not tamper proof like tomato juice. Reloder 16 has smaller grains then H4350 and is easier to measure - I can throw loads within .1 grain. Reloder 16 also is a great .22-.250 powder with the .224 75 ELDM bullets. I also use Reloder 23 in with 105 grain bullets in my other 6mm's and 120 -140 bullets in my 6.5-06. Both are great zippy powders for hot days.

That is a good load. I pushed mine quite a bit faster with 26 and then just backed down to where it is now.

Without looking it up, I am thinking that I use 46 grains. 24-inch barrel.

When it is over 95* and the rodents come out to play I'm certain that Reloder 16 will help me put a dent in the rodent population. AR Comp is another powder to consider.

I haven’t played with ARcomp in 6.5 yet but I think fast powders can give impressive accuracy if you don’t mind forfeiting some FPS. 36.5gr of RL15 under a 140 ELD just hammered. I’m betting ARComp has a similar point where it will hammer in the 2500 fps range.
