RL 15 loads for 6 BR

Guys im going to try some RL 15 in my Savage Benchrest with 105-107 grain bullets. What are some pet loads for this combo. I tried Varget but did not get the results in needed and cant get any H4895 yet so RL 15 is on board. What are the max loads you guys are finding. The Sierra book says 28.3 max. How much higher have u guys pushed it without issues? How about the Berger book anybody have the info for the 105's?
Thank You

In the 6BR, I find it difficult to detect pressure signs, so I proceed with caution. In my Savage Benchrest I shoot Berger 105VLDs ,,.015" into the lands. re15 is my go to powder. (30.6gr.) 16 reloadings on my present brass. The primer pockets are still gute-n-tite. No heavy bolt lifts or extractions. Who knows?

Hey 1Hole.. I have a 6mmBR and I use BOTH Varget and RL-15.. I use the Berger 105Hybrids. For my RL-15 load, I use 30.0grs of RL-15 with the Hybrid seated 15K OFF the lands. Additionally, I use a CCI-Br4 primer. It is running about 2840f.p.s but with EXCELLENT accuracy. I hope this helps.. Ben.....

To be safe,

Start at 29.2 RL15 and work up in .2 grn increments.

In my rifles, I always start off 1 grain less than Varget.

Your rifle should sing with either powders.

I am also shooting RL-15 with the Berger 105 hybrids in my 6BR. Rounds loaded 15 thou off with CCI-BR4 primers... 31.4gr RL-15... gives me a velocity of 2945 and shoots 1/2 minute consistently.

XR 100--26 in Krieger 8 twist--30.3 gr of RL15 works for me in 6mmbr--CCI 450s--105-107- 108-- not to picky on that part--Neil

Pretty quick load for a 6br.

What action are you using? Barrel?

Ditto that! Later! Frank

For what is worth, With 105 bergers I use 30.0 gr of RL15. My saturn barrel likes bullets seated at the lands and it will hold under a 2" vert 5 shot group at 600 yards. The same load also shoots well out to 1000 yards.

105 Berger HYB, 30.2 RE15, 15 in the lands, lapua brass neck sized .267, CCI 450 primer, krieger 5R barrel .236, BAT-DS action. .796” groupF25763DC-622F-4032-8B9C-FA5F8826307C.jpeg

if you’re going to use 107’s or Berger 109’s you might want a 1:7.5 or 1:7 twist. Especially for 109’s it takes 200 to 300 yards for them to become stable. If not you’ll start makings key holes.

I was shooting RL-15 at 30.0gr and Hornady 105gr HPBT's or the Sierra's 107gr using Federal 205m's, but I'm also using Norma brass. Lapua brass the load is 30.3gr

I'm running 29.0 RL-15 behind a 105 Hybrid, 30 thousandth off the lands. Works well in my Bat/Krieger 7.5" twist.

Even though this thread is from 2013 I’ll post this picture as it may help someone.
I never finished this load but definitely promising.8FB9E497-0D9C-4AF1-9CEC-88D312A1A962.jpeg
