Ring Lapping

With all the new CNC manufacturing and tolerances, is ring lapping a thing of the past? I really don't think I need to lap a pair of 200.00 rings........

You'd be surprised. You might get a perfect match or maybe not. There have to be some tolerances otherwise you'd never get a Jewell ring to fit a Stolle and a Viper, and a Speedy sleeve, and . . . It can be argued either way whether lapping rings has any benefit but the little time it takes is worth the peace of mind if nothing else. JMHO
