Rimfire wind flag recommendations?

So I have a set of Graham wind flags that I have used for years and they work well. With surveyors tape for tails I can pick up most changes but I’m dipping a toe into the Rimfire world and it seems like a set of flags with even more sensitivity could be a plus. Slight switches can easily burn you at even 50 yards.

Any recommendations out there?

Dave.

I see quite a few people using Graham flags for ARA.

The dual vane flags are really popular. I have a set of well-used Ezell flags with sail tails that I like. The fact that they're rain-proof is a big plus. If I was only going to own and use one set it would be the Ezell's. I may get a set of dual vane flags at some point too but I'm trying to keep the amount of equipment to a minimum

I use the Graham rimfire ball wind flags for shooting ARA Benchrest. I tried three types before going with the Grahams. I found the dual vanes to be the worst of the three I tried.
My Grahams are very sensitive to change in wind direction. I did change out the surveyor tape for sail tails to get a better read on wind intensity.

Second the Ezell flags.

All types of flags are important to ensure they are well balanced but the dual vanes are extremely important. Most of the dual vanes are quite a bit heavier and imbalance shows up with them the worst because of that. This imbalance is why most flags get extremely lazy when it rains and the openings in the chloroplast retains water. Once water weight gets added, the weight balance is off and extra drag is induced into the pin/socket where they rotate on the stand.

Wow, you guys a serious....
Since .22 shooting is all casual range play, a couple of lengths of masking tape on the target frame suffice for my grrls and me.

I have Graham rimfire ball flags. They seem to work great. Just wondering if I should add at least one daisy wheel flag. If maybe it would show something the ball flags doesn’t. Any advice?

Daisys show wind speed same as the flag tails. Most important is to realize that anything you see in the flags has already happened, they are reactive and always behind the curve.
The above is an excellent post. I can't tell you how many times I have had a bullet that seemed to fly into the wind, only to see my flags switch almost immediately after the shot broke. I also can't tell you how many times I hear other competitors on the line when this happens to exclaim, that's impossible, goes against physics, IT HAD TO BE A BAD BULLET, A FLYER!! THIS AMMO HAS FLYERS IN IT! Of course, they are wrong. Need to pay attention to those tails! They drop before the flag moves in a switch, every time. If the tails are hanging straight down in calm conditions, look for them to start slowly moving into the flag stand. They will long before the flag moves and that little push can, often will, push the bullet the opposite direction of where your flags are pointed, or at least, change your hold point you were using for hits, into a hold that will score a 50 or a 9 (or a 10 instead of an X). Edit: to answer the OP's question, I shoot Ray Hill Wicks style dual vanes with sail tails in dry conditions and Ezell's in wet conditions. Both with sail tails of various weights.

I have four of the Graham rimfire flags. As for using in the rain, how much of an impact would a strip of clear shipping tape covering the holes have on the sensitivity of the flags?

Bill
I've shot over my Grahams in the rain with no problems.

The tape wouldn't be a bad idea just not sure how well it would stay on, check the balance anytime you change something on them.
