Rimfire/Smallbore F-Class?

Doing a search it seems the topic died off in the 2019-2020 range. Maybe I didn’t use the correct key words?
Anyway is this still a thing? Coming from the NRL22 monthly carnival shoots and NRL22x I was looking for something more user friendly to get my 10 & 11 year olds into. I’m not about to have them getting frustrated shooting off ladders, buckets and tires under time limits. When the go to shoot they want to shoot. Plus I can’t keep them focused for 8+ hours in the heat or cold waiting for their turn to shoot. Our local range holds a monthly rimfire benchrest match with a junior division. They will also let us shoot prone if we choose. They prefer shooting prone so the idea of F-Class style popped into my head.

Are there any events I’m missing in the Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa or Missouri area?

Are they allowing the Vudoo repeaters? Sorry didn’t mean to strike up a past controversial topic, but that’s what we have to work with. The wife isn’t too keen on me putting together 2-3 new Vudoo single shots for something new. Lol

Is the smallbore f-class nationals still a thing?

Again sorry if I’m missing previous posts, and google searches aren’t pulling up much either. It seems to be just like finding matches in other disciplines, just as tough.
 
I'm watching this thread with interest. Even though I still have fun shooting some of the practical/tactical/PRS style matches with my repeaters, I'm also very interested in smallbore prone and/or F-Class, since I've got a couple of V22S single shots.
 
Any smallbore prone matches usually welcome F class shooters. Just check with the Match Director and find a way to load one round at a time in your rifles.
 
We are not in your area, but we are are you keep 22 F class( our definition) alive. At our last match, one of group put together a video and posted to you tube. Here's the link:
We shoot once a month at one club and once a month a another. It's fun, and getting to be very competitive. Last time out, the top 3 finishers in the open class we're separated by only 1 point.

Smallbore F-Class (often referred to as F-SBR) is certainly alive and slowly growing.

As previously noted, F-SBR is commonly conducted in parallel with smallbore prone competitions across the US.

American Smallbore Shooting Association (ASSA) has our national matches for prone & F-SBR from 10-13 July in Bristol, IN. In 2021, over $3000 was awarded in cash and prizes.

I'm not sure where you are located, but I would invite you and your family to stop in and see what the match is about and get a good overview of the competition. The F-SBR shooters that have attended in the past are EXTREMELY helpful and would be happy to share their knowledge and recommendations.

For the ASSA championships, there is a total of four (4) days of competition. Each day consists of four (4) matches and a daily aggregate. Each match (except the aggregate match) consists of two (2) targets so there are eight (8) targets fired each day with 20 record rounds per target (160 record shots per day plus sighting shots). Distances fired include 50 yards, 50 meters and 100 yards. Duration of firing is 20 minutes per target, so it is pretty much an all day event with a lot of rounds fired downrange. There is a 20 to 30 minute break between each match, so there is time to rest but not a long wait before you are back on the firing line.

The Vudoo rifles would need to be single loaded, however I believe there are single shot followers available that facilitate that via being inserted into the magazine well.

When you see F-SBR competitions, DO NOT be intimidated from giving it a try after seeing some of the equipment used by the top flight competitors. They have custom rifles with high end front rests or bipods that can discourage some from even trying. For juniors, regular bipods and the Vudoo rifles will be fine and a rear bag can be added for a very low expenditure.

The targets used are the metric/ISSF type and are available online from sources such as American Target Co. or National Target Co. Designations are:
50 yard - A51
50 meter - A50
100 yard - A33

Attached are photos of the 50 yard and 100 yard targets for reference.

June 22-26 will be the Firecracker 4800 at Raton, NM. There will be a bunch of F-class small-bore shooter there. There was a great crowd of F-class shooters this year at the Wildcat match in Phoenix.
Just shot the Colorado Regional prone match in Byers. They allow F-class shooters. also the monthly league there are F-class shooters. Have not shot there yet, But I believe the Kansas state match in Topeka allow F-classers! Call Vudoo and get a couple of there single shot adapters for the rifles.

The Topeka match sounds interesting as I’m just a few hours North of there. I may have to see what I can dig up for that place. The more I hear about Raton the more I want to hit a match there. Might be a good one to plan for next year.

I called Vudoo this morning. They said the adapter only works with the Gen1 and older Gen2 models. I have all Gen2 Vudoos but they need serial numbers to see what version I have. Hopefully I have the right ones, or I did find some printed magazine versions that may work also.
 
If you PM me your email address, I'll send you the match bulletin for the 2022 State Prone Match sponsored by the Des Moines Rifle and Revolver Club. It's the only smallbore prone match of the year but looks like they have new leadership for the Smallbore progams and will be having matches again.

There are (at least) 3 sbr f-class nationals now
nra, assa and cmp is having their first even though they don't even have it in their rulebook yet.

On a related note, cmp has f-class in their national smallbore postal and this years winner is me :):):)
 
Nothing illegal about a repeater action in itself.
Just has to be single loaded.
It's not that hard with a bolt rifle sitting on a bipod or rest.
I do it constantly with my annie, savage and cz magazine rifles even when it's not required

Where north of Topeka are you? I grew up in Marysville, Have a farm on the Nebraska border. Nobody I knew got hit buy the tornado!
 
Know you're too far away but surely there are some outlaw longrange rimfire matches out your way. This is mine, no run and gun or contortion needed and last month I had everything from a 9 year old girl to an 80 year old competitor.
