rimfire scope suggestions, please.

I'm looking for advice on a new scope for my .22. I shoot NRL matches and its time to get a better scope. My current scope is a bushnell elite with a mildot reticle. I love the scope, but holdovers and windage holds are killing me!
Requirements for my new scope,
FFP
25 yard min focus
over 20 max magnification
25 moa per revolution would be great, but I can live with 15.
30mm tube min, 34mm would be better.
Dont really want a chinese scope, Japan is ok.
hash mark reticle. Something with elevation and wind, like a Horus reticle.
Mils or MOA are ok, I prefer MOA.
Priced under 1k
Any opinions and suggestions are appreciated, Thanks!

I run the vortex gen1 razor. It's 33y focus, so @25y it's a like fuzzy, but never held me back. Tons of elevation!

The Athlon Cronus checks every box you need. The are both made in Japan at LOW. Neither are sub $1k, but can be had used for closer to that.

Not sure what kind of shooting the NRL match you refer to is. However I run a SWFA fixed 20x scope on a rifle I use for silhouette shooting out to 166yds. Furthest I shot it so far has been 300, and it was good to ring a hanging chuck target there. Can be had in MIL or MOA, and I like the hash and diamond setup on the crosshairs, fine enough to not clutter things too much but very useable (as a side note I have used the same scope for long range varmint silhouettes out to 850 on a different rifle, of course) Significantly lower than $1K, last I checked they were backorder, no idea if they still are, I want to pick up one or two more myself.

Athlon Midas TAC, Argos BTRs or the Nikon BLACK X1000 all come in mils, track well and won't break the bank. Parralax down to 25 I believe ( Nikon might be 50 though)

I use a Leupold 45 target scope. It is cross hair with dot. Adjustments are so precise. that once you set you distance you can change it by counting clicks and it will be exactly on target. All you need is some testing. Never has failed me and it will focus below 25 yrds.

Thanks for the replies. You guys are right in line with what ive been thinking. Anybody have any experience with Riton Optics?

The gentleman that runs the NRL22 down here has one. They are ok, most of these are OEM from overseas (Japan, Philippines, China). I would personally stick with a known quantity/company. I would also spend as much as you can and then add some. Scopes and ammo are the most important pieces in this game.

There was/is a Golden Eagle listed here for $1000 shipped, if I recall, a couple days ago.

Good scope but SFP and a limited amount of elevation. The reticle also isn’t geared towards the NRL style of matches.

I shoot NRL22 and I run a gen 1 Athlon Ares BTR and find it to be just about perfect: 25moa per rev, good tree reticle, 4.5-27x, 25yd focus, true zero stop, etc. I don't spend a lot of time behind super nice scopes, but the glass is good and I have heard easily comparable to anything in its price range. The only miss from your ideal list is that its made in China. I think you will have a hard time finding a good tracking scope with all the bells and whistles you mention that is made anywhere BUT China unless you are looking at used. If you are looking to save money the Midas Tac is a little less money and gets high marks as well.

Thanks for all the help. When I got into 22’s it was because it was cheaper and tons of fun. Now with everybody running vudoo’s and rimx’s along with gen2 razors, tangent, schmit’s, foundation stocks and mpa’s. I might have to find a new hobby. Anybody want to start a slingshot league with me?

I know this is humor, but you really don’t need all that to win. One of the local guys shoots base class ($1050 msrp for scope and gun) and usually beats everyone regardless of class. Like anything, better gear can help and fancy toys are fun to have. But, especially for nrl22, a moderately accurate gun shot by someone who can build a stable position and transition effectively is the key.

Agreed. One of the guys out here routinely wins with a volksquartsen summit 10/22 action in a krg bravo. He is a good shooter. I could have a $20k and he would still beat me.
