Rimfire cleaning ?

Anyone else use a BoreSnake?

It’s quick and I really don’t want a real thorough cleaning on a 22.

I have one just as a back up during a match. I did remove the bronze brush out of it. So far I’ve never needed it.

I use the 7/8" cotton patches. But as mentioned by @JSH it depends on the jag, the patch, and the location you attach the patch.

I also have 3 different thickness 7/8" cotton patches I use, as that is the preferred patch for my 17, 20, and 22 cal bores.

After reading the article in the link I am providing, I changed some of my practices and better accuracy has resulted.

I have just about went 100 % with the Tri-angle patches. In rimfire and centerfire, use the one's sold in packs for the size of bore. 17-20, 224 and larger. Work great on a jag.

I buy 3" square synthetic patches meant for shotguns. I cut them in half, fold them to form a 1 1/2 inch square and put them on a loop - for solvent - or 20 caliber jag when dry patching. I also use round .22 caliber cotton patches sometimes to dry patch.

Do these look like the synthetic patches you're referring to?

I bought a package (Outers) several years ago. I dislike them for cleaning barrels but it turns out they work perfect for using with the tuner cleaner I make. Cotton patches work ok too but they need to be cut down or they're a little too tight. I'd like to find a source for the synthetic patches to recommend to people who buy the tuner cleaner. The Outers part number on the package is now the same thing but they're cotton
