Rifle stock

My buddies dad wants to try his hand at making his own rifle stock (bench rest style). Where are some place he can look to get stocks that are @80% finished so he can do the final touches himself? I'm sure there are a million variables but just trying to point him to a good source so he can play around in his retirement.

I would start at Richards Microfit. I have not used them, but have heard that their semi inletted is about 80%
