Rifle cleaning jags and brushes

I have heard shooters claim to never BRUSH a barrel.
I would hate to think what that barrel looks like.
The shooter who thinks he has a perfectly clean barrel because
he gets white patches, probably doesn't own a bore scope.
The miracle cleaner that will remove carbon w/o a brush
hasn't been invented yet. Just MHO. LDS

I won't say "never", but I don't use a brush much. I generally clean after 25 rds, and try to start just after a 5-round string. Boretech C4, several wet patches, single pass until the carbon lessens, then short stroke to sort of scrub; followed by either Boretech copper remover or KG-12 on patches to get the copper.

Borescoping shows it gets, at the very least, pretty damn clean.

The carbon ring at the front at the chamber is dealt with separately if needed (doesn't seem to show up all that often; at least not to any great degree.)

And to the original post, I use 1-3/8" patches from Brownells on a 6mm Boretech aluminum jag.

Seems to work for me.

I am pleased to learn that you have a bore scope. I would go easy on the CLR. There is some indication that soaking can change the finish of stainless. For regular powder fouling solvent and brush should do the job, and to keep ahead of hard carbon I use IOSSO with care, and only as needed. I have a specific method that has worked well for me and several other shooters that I learned about from an interview of Tony Boyer.

The patch and jag are mostly to get the solvent into the barrel to dissolve any copper and loosen up the powder fouling. Scrubbing is bronze brush work. Do you have a good cleaning rod guide, one with an insert that stays on the rod?
I have 3 dewey rods that I use

All the brushes and jags I currently use are from dewey when I bought the cleaning rods.
I use Boretech solvent to get the carbon and copper out of the bartlein barrel. After I brush and patch it I'll run one patch with rubbing alcohol.

I have started to just squirt Shooter's Choice in the chamber end of the barrel. Put the rifle in a slight muzzle down attitude. I use a solvent bottle from Bruno with a long tube on it to get the solvent into the bore. The copper will run out of the muzzle onto a paper towel. Sometimes I will do several applications inverting the rifle 180* to get the solvent into most of the barrel. I just push a dry parch through the bore to push out the soaking solvent. Seems that most of the copper is at the muzzle.
