rifle basix trigger adjustments

I recently installed a Rifle Basix Sav-2 trigger on my model 12 benchrest chambered in 6BR. The question I have is, it seems to have a lot of creep before it breaks, the pull weight is great but I would like to adjust out the creep. What do I have to do?

What you are looking for is adjustments for "engagement". Your instructions, or those found on the internet for your trigger should help. Be careful with engagement adjustments. That one can get you into trouble more easily than the others.

I would strongly suggest you call the company direct. When I got my first Basix trigger, it had some creep. I called them during regular business hours. Have the action off the stock, the owner, (nice fella) normally answers and he will walk you right through the adjustment.

After you get it adjusted to the weight you desire. Try this with no round in the gun. Open and close the bolt so it is cocked and closed in battery. Then slide the safety off and on about ten times. Make sure it does not fire during the process of putting the safety off and on. I have personally had rifles that were adjusted lighter than 1 pound to fire when the safety was worked back in forth. I no longer use Rifle Basix Sav-2 Triggers and are of the opinion that they are not safe. The mass of the trigger is too much for the light spring.

There needs to be a multi leaver trigger designed for Savages.

For right now the Savage Accutrigger is the best option.

I agree. I bought a rifle that came with one and it's not safe by design. I tried to find the install/adjustment instructions but couldn't find them online. I have a pretty solid understanding of triggers and I couldn't tune this one for adequate performance and safety. If anyone has the instructions I would greatly appreciate a copy.

PM your email address and I will send you an updated instruction sheet. They are a fine trigger once you have tweek them to your liking. I have three, along with Jewell, Timney, Evolution, and maybe a few more.

Thanks everyone for the information, I have one other rifle with a sav2 trigger on it and it works fine and safely. I am hoping that a little tweeking would bring this one up to par.

My Basix works just fine, and much beter than the Accu Trigger that would not cock every time. I have a savage mod 12 accu trigger for sale if anyone wants it.

C T,
Since you say "recently" is your Basix 2 a totally unitized trigger like most Rem. 700 triggers ? or do you still have to use parts from the OME trigger.
NOTE: one would think with the growing popularity of Savage actions in shooting sports that someone would develop a unitized trigger for Savage 's.
