Rifle Basix Sav-2 trigger questions

I got my new Rifle Basix Sav-2 trigger installed in my Savage Varmint Action last night and after many, many adjustments I did finally get it set to the 12 oz range to where I can slam the bolt up and down and flip the safety back and forth briskly w/o the trigger going off but if I adjust it down slightly to the 8-10 oz range it wants to set off the trigger when handling the bolt roughly or flipping the safety back and forth a couple times.

Has anyone had the same type of results? I was hoping to set the trigger in the 6-8 oz range but I just don't see it working out w/o it being unsafe, at least on my rifle. Are there any tricks that I'm unaware of to setting this trigger a tad lower and still have it be safe? I may just have to settle for it being where it is I suppose.

I installed one of these in my Savage 12 BR. It went in pretty easy - I set at my computer and watched the video as I installed it. My trigger is 4 to 6 ounces and creep free. Bolt slam, slamming it butt down on the floor, and closing the bolt hard do not make it fire. I have the pivot pin in the middle hole. I did deburr and polish all the places I thought there might be any rubs. You might try that if you already haven't. If it isn't what you want I would give the Rifle Basix people a call and chat with them. I have over 1000 rounds down the tube with no problems. Sorry I'm not much help.

Was having the same kind of problems, with one of their LVR-1 triggers. Called Rifle Basix for help.
They said the problem was with the sear. Sent instructions on how to adjust it. Solved the problem.
Trigger is set @ 6 oz and working great.

I have mine set at 16oz., and you can't make it malfunction. I have had it as low as 10oz., but wasn't comfortable with it. In a varmit rig you just don't need a 2oz trigger in my book

+1 on the above statement.

I find they are a good trigger. I only use the SAV-2 on my match rifles.

If I remember correctly, the trigger pivot has three possible locations, depending on the pull weight range that you want. Do you have yours set up correctly for the lowest pull weight range?

I had a time adjusting mine. Finally got it set at around 12oz and it is safe. Anything lower than that was bump firing or seat dropping when moving safety. Called RB and tried to tell me how to set it up for lower and followed those and videos instructions to the T and still could not get the trigger to be safe

But at 12 it its very smooth and clean breaking

I'm really pleased with my Sav-2 trigger - RB were very easy to deal with, the parts were well machined and fitted well and the fitting instructions on the DVD were easy to follow. I have mine set at around 8oz with no problems - I've never tried to set it any lower.

I think you and me have had the same exact results then. I have the trigger pivot in the rear hole, I couldn't get the middle or front hole to work for me at all. I may just have to call RB and see if there is an adjustment I can do to the sear.

I have one of the very first Sav-2 trigger sold, but did R.B. do a redesign of that trigger a few years back? Just kinda courious

I've had my Sav-2 for around 3-4 years now I guess.
This is what it looks like.

Each of the trigger pivot locations has a hole in the trigger and one in the housing (three in each), so that with the pivot pin in any of the three positions, the trigger will be the correct distance from the sear. With the pin in the holes closest to the front of the action, the leverage of the trigger against friction and spring pressure is increased, while the pull weight is decreased, and creep for a given amount of engagement increases. If you want the lightest pull, the pin must be in the most forward position. Trying to get there any other way will not work.
