Ridgway varmint silhouette

Can anyone tell me what calibers are being used at these events? 6mm, 6.5, 30 etc. Do the 6MMs knock the targets over ok?

Thanks

I was at a shoot Saturday near Dubois pa and the 2 people that run the shoot where there, I asked the same question. Their reply was that a 6BR shooting 105's knocked them over all the time except for the coyotes at 1000, if the hit at 1000 was low sometimes it would not knock them over.

Thanks for the reply. So basically the coyotes have to be head shots to knock them over with a 6BR.

We've been shooting it for several years.. Started with .30's and .284's, then 6.5... We now shoot 6's and love them. Not sure I'll ever go back to the bigger calibers since we all faired very well last year. No issues with the 105-107 class bullets coming from 6XC or 6CM.. Pushing those bullets in the 2950-3100 range, just to give you an idea. Never have an issues making any of them fall. I even had a buddy use a 20BR one match and it was funny watching him make those targets fall with that gun. Impressive he could even make it out there let alone knock them over.. Those coyotes HAD to be shot in the head and they still fell slow. Crows and groundhogs fell fine ... Sure had us rolling on the ground with every hit.

Petey...sending you a pm

I've won it with a 6BR, head shots are not needed. I recently switched to a dasher and like it a lot but still do not feel at a disadvantage with a BR. Just ordered a barrel to make a light gun and am seriously considering making it a BR.

If gunnermhr says 6 BR then that's it....he is one of the finest long range bangers on the planet..when he talks long range equipment just listen...his record is clear and his first place wins are numerous !!
